Thomas Frank confirms huge setback as Richarlison faces missing key Tottenham games

Thomas Frank has admitted that Richarlison’s injury picked up during Tottenham’s FA Cup loss to Aston Villa is a significant one.

The Brazilian was forced off after just 31 minutes at Villa Park in the 2–1 defeat, with Randal Kolo Muani replacing him. His setback came shortly after Dominic Solanke had only just made his own return from injury, adding to Spurs’ growing list of problems.

It marked another frustrating blow for the Lilywhites, with pressure already mounting on Frank in North London. The former Brentford boss is enduring a difficult period, and the situation has continued to worsen.

Mohammed Kudus is expected to be out for three months, while James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are yet to resume training. Although the January transfer window remains open for a few more weeks and Conor Gallagher has already arrived, it remains uncertain how much further Tottenham will invest.

Richarlison facing lengthy absence
Tottenham’s injury troubles have become a familiar issue this season, echoing the difficulties seen during Ange Postecoglou’s time at the club. Despite mixed opinions among supporters, Richarlison had been enjoying a strong campaign, registering seven goals and three assists in 21 Premier League appearances, along with a goal in the Champions League.

However, Frank is now set to be without the 28-year-old for as long as seven weeks, a major setback with Spurs still competing on both domestic and European fronts. His absence could see him miss a string of key fixtures.

If Richarlison does return after a full seven-week recovery, he could be in contention for the clash against Liverpool on Saturday, 14 March. However, given Tottenham’s wider injury issues, Frank may opt to take a cautious approach before bringing him back.
