Tottenham Hotspur are looking to boost Thomas Frank’s attacking options during the January transfer window as injuries continue to hit their squad in north London. The team has struggled with fitness issues in recent weeks, leaving them thin in key forward positions.
With several senior attackers sidelined, Spurs’ recruitment team has prioritized a handful of targets. Among them are Ajax winger Mika Godts, RB Leipzig talent Yan Diomandé, and Juventus prospect Kenan Yıldız. While Tottenham admire all three, signing Diomandé or Yıldız in January would be difficult due to their importance to their current clubs and high price tags. Diomandé is reportedly valued around £40 million (€46 million), but Leipzig would likely resist selling, making Godts the most realistic option.
Dutch outlet Soccer News has reported on Tottenham’s interest, noting that the recent appointment of former Ajax and Everton defender John Heitinga as Frank’s assistant could give Spurs an advantage. Heitinga worked closely with Godts during a brief return to Ajax, where the Belgian winger scored four goals and provided five assists in 17 games.
While it’s unclear if Heitinga’s arrival is directly tied to Godts, his knowledge of the player could help Tottenham. Soccer News claims that a €46 million offer could convince Ajax to sell immediately, which might encourage Spurs to act quickly.
The need is urgent, as Frank currently lacks options with James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, Mohammed Kudus, and Dejan Kulusevski unavailable. Richarlison’s recent hamstring injury, keeping him out for around seven weeks, worsens the situation.
With fixtures coming fast, Tottenham may move in the market before the window closes.
Godts, contracted to Ajax until 2029, has impressed this season with eight goals and eight assists in 24 appearances, highlighting his potential to make an immediate impact in the Premier League. As injuries continue to disrupt Frank’s plans, Godts is emerging as a realistic January target for Spurs.
