Reports indicate that Tottenham Hotspur have made the decision to part ways with head coach Thomas Frank and are acting swiftly to line up a replacement.
Frank was appointed to replace Ange Postecoglou in the hope of bringing stability after a difficult spell, but he has failed to meet expectations. A run of poor results has left Spurs languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, widening the rift between the club’s hierarchy and its supporters. Many now view Frank’s appointment as an error, with his inability to connect with fans and deliver convincing performances drawing heavy criticism.
Matters reached a breaking point on Saturday when Tottenham suffered an embarrassing 2-1 defeat at home to relegation-threatened West Ham. In the aftermath, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano warned that Frank’s job is “at serious risk.”
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “This is a very difficult moment for Tottenham. The club tried to show support by adding John Heitinga — the former Ajax coach and ex-Arne Slot assistant at Liverpool — to the coaching staff during the week. But despite that, Spurs lost again at the weekend, and the situation for Thomas Frank has become extremely complicated.”
He added: “His position is genuinely under threat. Tottenham now have to decide whether to make an immediate change or give him more time, but the truth is that his job is not safe. Internal talks are ongoing, and the next few hours and days will be decisive. While Oliver Glasner is expected to leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season, Frank is fighting to hold on as Spurs edge closer to a decision.”
According to the report, the defeat to West Ham and the hostile reaction from supporters — including chants of “sacked in the morning” — are viewed as a key moment by the club’s leadership. Tottenham have therefore already started exploring potential replacements, looking at both interim and long-term solutions.
A number of candidates have been mentioned, with talkSPORT claiming that former Spurs boss and current United States head coach Mauricio Pochettino would be “open to a return.” The outlet reports that if Frank is dismissed, Tottenham are likely to install an interim manager until the end of the season, with Pochettino potentially returning after completing his World Cup commitments with the USA.
