Tottenham suffered another Premier League setback on Saturday, falling to a 2–1 home defeat against West Ham.
Crysencio Summerville put the visitors ahead early on, before Cristian Romero restored parity midway through the second half. But Spurs’ struggles continued as Callum Wilson struck a late stoppage-time winner, extending their winless league run to four matches.
Following the loss, Football Insider reported that Spurs are stepping up plans to dismiss Thomas Frank, with the furious reaction from supporters after the West Ham game viewed as the tipping point.
Despite mounting pressure on Frank, the club has continued to back him in the transfer market. Conor Gallagher has already arrived, and a deal for young left-back Souza appears close.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed on 9 January that an agreement had been reached, while Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte now report the 19-year-old is heading to Tottenham after bidding an emotional farewell to Santos. Souza marked the moment with a heartfelt Instagram message, thanking the club and its fans after a decade of service.
With Souza’s exit from Santos confirmed, Spurs are expected to announce the transfer soon.
His arrival could also have long-term implications for Destiny Udogie. With Souza seen as a future first-choice left-back, Udogie may find himself on the fringes if the teenager settles quickly.
While a January departure seems unlikely, given Souza’s lack of European experience, a summer exit for the Italian defender is increasingly plausible after repeated links away from North London.
