Liverpool F.C. supporters turned their frustration away from Arne Slot and instead slammed one “hopeless” player following a “shocking” performance against Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool F.C. endured a frustrating evening in Paris, falling to a 2-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

The French champions, who won the title last season, once again underlined their quality after crushing Chelsea F.C. 8-1 on aggregate in the Round of 16. Arne Slot’s side had also been knocked out by PSG at the same stage last year, raising fears of a repeat outcome.

PSG made a strong start and took the lead inside 11 minutes when Désiré Doué’s deflected strike found the back of the net. After the break, they doubled their advantage as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia carved through Liverpool’s defence to finish off a superb 27-pass team move.

Slot opted for a tactical shift, setting up with a back three of Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, and Ibrahima Konaté, while Jeremie Frimpong and Miloš Kerkez operated as wing-backs. However, the approach failed to pay off, with Frimpong particularly struggling to influence the game.

The Dutch wing-back had a difficult outing on both ends of the pitch, failing to contain PSG’s attackers while offering little attacking threat despite having space. Journalist James Pearce also criticised Frimpong and Florian Wirtz for poor delivery, highlighting missed opportunities in promising positions.

Frimpong nearly faced further embarrassment late on after misjudging a long ball, allowing Ousmane Dembélé to break through and strike the post. He was substituted in the 90th minute and received a 6.0 SofaScore rating—the lowest among all players on the pitch.

Fans did not hold back in their reactions, with many pointing to Frimpong’s performance as a major concern. Criticism ranged from his defensive errors to his lack of quality in the final third, with several supporters branding his display as well below the expected standard.
