With the transfer window entering its final two weeks, Tottenham are making attacking reinforcements their main priority. Reports suggest Spurs are hoping to bring in as many as three attacking players before the deadline, with Cody Gakpo, Savinho and a new striker reportedly among their targets.
The Lilywhites have also been linked with a possible right-back to replace Djed Spence, but a fresh report claims they could make another move in defence.
Tottenham and Man United monitoring Edmond Tapsoba
According to Fussball Daten, Tottenham and Manchester United are both keeping a close watch on Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Edmond Tapsoba.
The two Premier League sides are reportedly looking to strengthen their defensive options and view the 27-year-old Burkina Faso international as a potential target.
Both clubs are said to have made contact with Tapsoba’s representatives, with the defender reportedly open to the possibility of a move to England after spending the last six years at Leverkusen.
A deal could require a fee of around €50 million (£42.7m) to convince Leverkusen to part ways with their defender.
Spurs unlikely to spend heavily on another centre-back
Despite Cristian Romero’s exit, Tottenham appear to have plenty of depth in central defence.
Roberto De Zerbi currently has Micky van de Ven and Marcos Senesi as left-sided options, while Jan Paul van Hecke and Kevin Danso provide alternatives on the right.
Ben Davies has also extended his contract, giving Spurs another experienced option should injuries become an issue.
As a result, it seems unlikely that Tottenham will sanction a £40m-plus move for another centre-back with other areas of the squad requiring greater attention before the transfer window closes.
