Sources: Mauricio Pochettino willing to consider a stunning return to Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino would be keen on a blockbuster return to Tottenham if the club decide to move on from Thomas Frank.
The 53-year-old is currently fully focused on leading the United States at the World Cup, but there is a growing sense that he could become available once the tournament concludes.

As revealed on Football Insider’s latest Inside Track podcast, Pochettino would seriously consider a second spell in north London should he leave his role with the U.S. national team. Spurs, meanwhile, are monitoring his situation closely, and the former boss has “never hidden” his desire to return to the club where he remains hugely popular.

Football Insider reported on 10 January that Frank could be dismissed if Tottenham fail to beat struggling West Ham at home this weekend. Further reports on 13 January suggested Spurs may appoint an interim manager until the end of the season if they part ways with Frank, potentially paving the way for Pochettino to arrive after the World Cup.

However, any move would depend heavily on how the USA perform at the tournament. A disappointing campaign could see Pochettino’s position come under scrutiny, while a successful run may delay any decision. Either way, Spurs are keeping a close eye on developments, aware that a Pochettino return would likely be warmly welcomed by supporters.

Speaking on the podcast, it was explained that nothing is imminent, with Pochettino fully committed to his current job. But his long-standing affection for Tottenham and belief that he has “unfinished business” there means he remains a realistic future option if Frank’s tenure comes to an end.

Pressure continues to mount on Frank, with former Spurs scout Mick Brown warning on 12 January that the Dane will be sacked unless results improve quickly. Tottenham’s recent 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, FA Cup exit, and poor league form have only intensified the scrutiny.

Concerns are also growing over dressing-room unrest and whether players have fully embraced Frank’s tactical approach, which represents a sharp shift from Ange Postecoglou’s style. With tensions rising both on and off the pitch, Tottenham’s managerial situation remains finely balanced.
