“Liverpool Star Struggles vs Burnley – Slot Faces Tough Call on His Spot”

Liverpool suffered another frustrating setback in their Premier League campaign as they drew 1-1 with Burnley at Anfield on Saturday, prompting fresh criticism from the home fans. One player, in particular, was singled out for appearing “lost” on the pitch.

The Reds stay fourth with 36 points, just one ahead of Manchester United, who recently beat rivals 2-0. Missing the chance to close the gap on third-place Aston Villa was a disappointment, especially against a Burnley side struggling since promotion. Marcus Edwards’ 65th-minute strike canceled out Florian Wirtz’s first-half goal, meaning the points were shared.

Few Liverpool players impressed, despite the club investing £400 million on new signings over the summer. Hugo Ekitike was involved but ineffective, the defence was sloppy for Burnley’s equalizer, and the midfield failed to assert its quality.

Dominik Szoboszlai, playing alongside Ryan Gravenberch while Alexis Mac Allister sat on the bench, drew particular criticism. Once a standout performer for Liverpool, he looked off-form, missing a 32nd-minute penalty that hit the crossbar—his first since 2021.

Despite 123 touches, including seven inside the Burnley box, he contributed little. Many fans suggest he may benefit from a break until Salah returns from AFCON and Mac Allister is reinstated.

Social media quickly filled with criticism of Szoboszlai’s performance. Supporters described him as “lost,” “lacking confidence,” and “slowing the play down,” with some accusing him of playing as if he already has a big transfer lined up.

Overall, after 28 matches this season, it seems the Hungarian international might need some time on the bench to regain form and impact games when it matters most.
