Liverpool Launch Fresh £60m Bid for Yankuba Minteh After Agreeing Personal Terms – Romano

Liverpool have returned with an improved £60m offer for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh after their initial £50m bid was turned down.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool have also reached a broad verbal agreement with the 22-year-old over personal terms, with Minteh keen on a move to Anfield. However, Brighton have rejected the latest £60m proposal, although negotiations remain ongoing.

The Reds are reportedly confident that an agreement can still be reached before the transfer window closes.

Importantly, Minteh is not being viewed as an alternative to Bradley Barcola. Liverpool still consider the Paris Saint-Germain winger their top target and are continuing discussions over a potential deal. The club could therefore be looking to bring in both attackers as part of a major rebuild of their forward line.

A move for Minteh would nevertheless be a significant gamble. The Gambian winger is currently recovering from right-leg surgery after suffering an injury during pre-season and could be sidelined for two to three months.

Despite scoring nine Premier League goals across his two seasons with Brighton, Liverpool are willing to make a major investment in his potential, while simultaneously pursuing an expensive deal for Barcola.
