Thomas Frank could be handed a major boost at Tottenham as a decision on Leon Goretzka is expected within hours

Tottenham are said to have joined the chase for Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka as the January transfer window nears its conclusion.

The final days of the window are shaping up to be hectic in north London, with Thomas Frank keen to add one or two more players to his squad. Spurs are reportedly preparing a move for Osasuna forward Victor Munoz, who has a £34million release clause, while Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs is also on their radar as a potential long-term successor to Guglielmo Vicario.

At the same time, Randal Kolo Muani’s future at the club appears uncertain, with the forward potentially departing before the 2 February deadline.

Despite having already secured the signing of Conor Gallagher this month, midfield remains an area of concern for Frank. Tottenham have been hit hard by injuries, with Joao Palhinha, James Maddison, Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur all sidelined for extended periods. That leaves Yves Bissouma, Archie Gray, Pape Sarr, Xavi Simons and Gallagher as the only fit options, increasing the likelihood of another midfield addition.

According to Marca journalist Matteo Moretto, Spurs have made enquiries in recent hours about the availability of Goretzka. Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the situation, with the 30-year-old set to become a free agent when his Bayern contract expires in the summer. Bayern are reportedly weighing up their options and are expected to decide within hours whether to allow him to leave this month.

Securing a player of Goretzka’s pedigree late in the window would be a significant coup for Tottenham. The Germany international boasts 67 caps and 15 goals for his country and has enjoyed immense success at Bayern, winning multiple Bundesliga titles, domestic cups, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
With his contract nearing its end, Spurs could be well placed to land the experienced midfielder at a cut-price fee, potentially adding a proven, high-level performer who still has plenty to offer at the top level.
