“Without a second thought” – Tottenham urged to take a risk on transfer after key breakthrough

Tottenham have been urged to consider signing Raheem Sterling on a free transfer after Chelsea officially confirmed his release.

The ex-Liverpool and Manchester City winger is now available as a free agent, with expectations that several major clubs could show interest, even if only on a short-term deal.

Former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes Tottenham should take advantage of the situation, claiming Sterling still brings more quality than many of the club’s current attacking options. He suggested a short-term contract, possibly until the end of the season, could work well for both sides.

Speaking to talkSPORT, O’Hara said he would welcome Sterling at Spurs, insisting the winger remains a top player. He added that he would be happy to offer him a deal until the season’s end, even with the likelihood of more lucrative long-term opportunities elsewhere, including Saudi Arabia.

O’Hara also emphasized that if Sterling still has the hunger to compete in the Premier League, Tottenham should give him the platform to show what he can do.

A move to Spurs would mark another step in Sterling’s journey across the Premier League’s traditional big six. The 31-year-old started his career at Liverpool before joining Manchester City in 2015, where he scored 131 goals in 339 appearances. He later moved to Chelsea and spent last season on loan at Arsenal.

If Sterling completes a switch to Tottenham, he would have represented five of the Premier League’s big six clubs, with Manchester United the only exception.
