Tottenham Hotspur have received a boost as a key player reportedly rejoined first-team training this morning.

Spurs have picked up some welcome news ahead of Saturday’s Premier League trip to face Newcastle, with Mohammed Kudus reportedly back in full first-team training this morning.

The Ghana international hasn’t featured since January, when he picked up a thigh injury against Sunderland. He’d already made progress earlier this month by returning to grass work, and now joining the group in full training marks another step forward — though it’ll ultimately be down to Roberto De Zerbi to decide whether he’s ready to be involved against the Magpies.

Getting Kudus back would be a real lift for Spurs given what he offers going forward. He was a regular starter last season, making 19 Premier League appearances, starting every one of them and chipping in with two goals and five assists. With the side crying out for more creativity and firepower up top this season, his return couldn’t come at a better time — and after such a long spell out, he’ll no doubt be itching to get going again.

There’s more positive news on the injury front too: Dejan Kulusevski is progressing well and could be back within a few weeks. James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro are also expected to return next month, though Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert remain long-term absentees.

It’s been a mixed start to the season for Tottenham, who were beaten 3-0 by Brentford last weekend before bouncing back with a 5-1 thrashing of Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup midweek. De Zerbi will be eager to get his side’s first league win of the campaign on Saturday, and a fit-again Kudus could prove a timely boost as they look to turn their season around.
