“All Terms Agreed” – Fabrizio Romano Delivers Major Update on Liverpool Transfer Target
Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Ferran Torres over a potential move to the French champions this summer.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Torres has informed Barcelona of his desire to join PSG, with negotiations now set to begin between the two clubs over a transfer fee.
Liverpool had previously been linked with the 26-year-old winger, but the Reds’ current transfer priorities appear to be focused more heavily on PSG youngsters Ibrahim Mbaye and Bradley Barcola.
PSG’s move for Torres could therefore take another potential Liverpool target off the market.
There is a strong argument that Torres could have been an excellent addition to Andoni Iraola’s squad, particularly following Mohamed Salah’s departure. However, PSG’s growing interest and Torres’ impressive performances have seemingly made the deal much more difficult for Liverpool to pursue.
Liverpool could instead focus on Mbaye, who may be available for around €50 million (£42.8m), while also continuing their interest in Barcola.
Interestingly, statistics from last season show that Mbaye already possesses several qualities that could make him an exciting long-term option. Despite being only 18, he has already made 15 senior starts for PSG across all competitions under Luis Enrique.
Mbaye offers greater dribbling ability and chance creation, while Torres has shown stronger numbers in areas such as expected goals and attacking efficiency.
For Liverpool, the ideal scenario could be to add a more established winger such as Barcola alongside the younger Mbaye as they look to rebuild their attack following Salah’s exit.
However, with PSG now apparently closing in on Torres, Liverpool may have to move quickly if they want to secure their other targets.
