Tottenham could make a late push for Nottingham Forest’s Neco Williams as Roberto De Zerbi looks to bolster his full-back ranks before deadline day.
The north London club have already overhauled that department this summer, bringing in Andrew Robertson after Djed Spence departed for Inter Milan. De Zerbi can currently call on Robertson, Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie as his primary full-back options, with veteran Ben Davies able to deputise, though he’s in the final year of his deal and nearing the end of his playing days.
Santos signing Souza has yet to force his way into regular action since arriving last winter, and midfielder Andrey Gray has been deployed as makeshift cover at right-back — underlining the need for a natural full-back to add depth.
According to Football Insider, Spurs are exploring a move for Williams and may test Forest’s resolve with a late bid. Transfermarkt puts his value at roughly £24m, and with the Welsh international tied to the City Ground until 2029, Forest have no financial incentive to let him go cheaply.
Right-footed but comfortable on either side, Williams offers pace, delivery from wide areas and defensive solidity — qualities that make him an appealing fit for Tottenham’s needs.
A product of Liverpool’s academy, Williams struggled for regular minutes at Anfield before his switch to Forest opened the door to consistent first-team football. After an adjustment period, he’s grown into one of the club’s key figures, racking up 53 appearances last season with six goal involvements as Forest kept 14 clean sheets.
Now 25 and entering his peak years, Williams looks like a shrewd potential addition — the question is whether Tottenham convert their interest into a concrete offer before the window closes.
