Liverpool Fans Question Victor Munoz Despite Late Goal Against Nottingham Forest
Liverpool supporters have raised concerns about Victor Munoz’s performance following the Reds’ 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest at Anfield.
Andoni Iraola took charge of his first Premier League home match as Liverpool manager, hoping to avoid another disappointing result against Forest. However, the visitors started brightly and took the lead in the 24th minute when Morgan Gibbs-White created the opportunity for Dan Ndoye to score.
Liverpool thought they had found an equaliser around the half-hour mark after Florian Wirtz put the ball in the net, but the goal was ruled out because Jeremie Frimpong was judged to have been offside in the build-up.
The Reds eventually got back into the game in the second half. Cody Gakpo provided the assist for Alexander Isak, who scored to make it 1-1.
However, Nottingham Forest regained their advantage in the 70th minute after Alisson conceded a penalty following a challenge on Neco Williams. Gibbs-White stepped up and converted the spot-kick to put the visitors ahead once again.
Meanwhile, Liverpool fans were already discussing the club’s transfer activity, with reports suggesting the Reds had agreed a major deal for Bradley Barcola. There were also claims linking Liverpool with another potential attacking signing.
At the back, summer signing Jeremy Jacquet appeared to be adapting well to Premier League football alongside Virgil van Dijk. However, another new arrival, Victor Munoz, came under heavy criticism from sections of the Liverpool fanbase during the match.
Several supporters felt that the winger struggled with the intensity of the Premier League, with some questioning his decision-making and end product. Others suggested that Munoz may still be a developing player who needs more time before he can consistently perform at the required level.
Despite the criticism, Munoz had the final say late in the game. The youngster scored his first goal for Liverpool with a powerful finish to bring the score back to 2-2 and rescue a point for Iraola’s side.
While his late strike was an important moment, some supporters still believe Munoz must improve his overall performances if he wants to establish himself as a regular in Liverpool’s starting lineup.
Liverpool will now turn their attention to their next Premier League fixture, an away trip to Ipswich Town on September 4.
