Mac Allister Hails Iraola as “Truly Outstanding” Despite Liverpool’s Sluggish Start

Alexis Mac Allister has thrown his support behind new Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola, despite the club’s sluggish start to the Premier League campaign.

The Reds were held to a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest at Anfield, meaning Iraola remains without a league win after back-to-back stalemates in his opening fixtures.

Despite the underwhelming results, Mac Allister has made clear his admiration for the Spanish coach, describing him as “truly outstanding.” The midfielder’s remarks reflect the squad’s continued faith in Iraola’s approach and methods.

Iraola has been working to instil a more intense, high-pressing style at Liverpool, though the team has shown signs of slow starts and a drop-off in intensity out of possession. The manager himself acknowledged that Liverpool were much improved after the break against Forest, but conceded the first-half display ultimately proved costly.

Mac Allister’s endorsement arrives at a crucial juncture as Liverpool continue to adjust to life under Iraola’s system. A late leveller from new arrival Victor Muñoz salvaged a point on the day, though the Reds will know they need to start converting encouraging performances into results.

In essence, Mac Allister is convinced Iraola has the qualities to succeed at Liverpool, even if the outcomes on the pitch haven’t yet caught up with the promise being shown.
