Tottenham Consider Late £51m Move for La Liga Right-Back
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly exploring a late move for Real Sociedad defender Jon Aramburu as they look to strengthen their options at right-back before the transfer window closes.
The 24-year-old has emerged as a potential long-term solution for Spurs, with the club viewing him as someone who could eventually take over from Djed Spence. However, the move could be expensive, as Aramburu is believed to have a release clause of around £51 million.
Archie Gray has been used in the right-back position during the early stages of the season. Although he has shown some promising qualities, there have also been a few difficult moments in the opening matches. Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi has publicly backed the young player, praising his versatility and insisting that he has the ability to develop further in the role.
Despite that public support, reports suggest that De Zerbi would prefer the club to bring in a more experienced right-back before the September 1 transfer deadline. Tottenham are now said to be considering whether to make a late signing or continue trusting Gray and allow him more time to grow into the position.
Aramburu has impressed in La Liga over the past two seasons, earning attention for his attacking contributions, confidence on the ball and overall performances from the full-back position. His form has reportedly attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, with Tottenham among those monitoring his situation.
Spurs have also been linked with Neco Williams as another possible option. Meanwhile, Daniel Munoz appears to be heading towards Nottingham Forest, reducing the number of realistic targets available to Tottenham as the transfer window enters its final stages.
With time running out, Tottenham must now decide whether to make one final move in the market. De Zerbi could yet receive the experienced right-back he wants, or the club may choose to continue with Archie Gray and place their faith in his development throughout the season.
