Liverpool are reportedly keeping a close eye on AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, with the Senegal international emerging as a possible target for the future.
The Reds are believed to have made contact with Camara and Monaco on transfer deadline day, although they were not actively attempting to sign the 22-year-old during the summer window. Reports suggest Liverpool wanted to make it clear that they remain interested in the midfielder and could return for him in a future transfer window.
Camara had been on the verge of completing a move to Chelsea in a deal reportedly worth around €55 million. However, Monaco dramatically pulled out of the agreement at the last minute, leaving the player and Chelsea frustrated.
Liverpool’s interest in Camara is not entirely new. The midfielder has previously been linked with a move to Anfield, and reports indicate that the club could consider making an approach when their midfield plans change.
There had also been uncertainty surrounding Alexis Mac Allister’s future during the summer. Liverpool were reportedly prepared to consider Camara as a potential replacement if the Argentine midfielder had pushed for an exit and the club received a suitable offer. However, Mac Allister remained at Anfield, meaning Liverpool did not make an official move for the Monaco star.
With Camara now staying in France following the collapse of his Chelsea transfer, Liverpool could have another opportunity to pursue him. Chelsea may also look elsewhere after their frustration with Monaco, potentially reducing the competition for his signature.
For now, Camara remains a Monaco player, while Liverpool continue to monitor his development and could revisit the possibility of signing him in one of the upcoming transfer windows.
