Sean Dyche has dismissed claims that he is in discussions to take charge of Tottenham Hotspur for the rest of the Premier League season.
The former Everton manager was strongly linked with the North London side on Friday after reports suggested the club might make an emergency approach. This speculation comes as interim boss Igor Tudor is believed to be nearing an exit after failing to secure a single league victory since his appointment in January. Dyche has been out of work since leaving Nottingham Forest in February, but it remains uncertain whether the rumours hold any truth.
Any manager appointed by Tottenham in the coming days would face a huge challenge to keep the club in the Premier League.
Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness had suggested that Tottenham could turn to Dyche as a last-minute solution to avoid relegation. The 54-year-old had shown signs of stabilizing Nottingham Forest during his tenure, leading the team to several notable wins and lifting them above the relegation zone after a difficult run under Ange Postecoglou. That position has largely been maintained even after his departure.
However, Dyche firmly rejected the suggestion that talks had taken place. Speaking to talkSPORT, he joked that he was actually at a local pub when someone told him he was supposedly in negotiations with Spurs, pointing out that it would be impossible since he was clearly enjoying a drink at the time.
A fan—reportedly an Arsenal supporter—later shared a photo with Dyche from the pub on social media, claiming the manager was “definitely not going Spurs.” While Dyche has denied any contact so far, the situation could still change if Tottenham decide to make an official move in the near future.
