Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham Sack Chances Revealed by Top Source

Tottenham Boss Roberto De Zerbi Unlikely to Face Immediate Sack Threat Despite Poor Start

Tottenham’s huge summer investment could give Roberto De Zerbi some breathing room despite the club’s disastrous start to the new Premier League season.

Former Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness believes the £313 million Spurs spent during the summer should protect the Italian from being dismissed anytime soon.

Tottenham survived relegation under De Zerbi last season, but their opening two league matches have been hugely disappointing. Spurs currently sit bottom of the Premier League with no points, having failed to score while conceding five goals.

Despite those poor results, Wyness believes De Zerbi is unlikely to be under immediate pressure because Tottenham invested heavily in building the squad he wanted.

The North London club signed 10 first-team players during the summer, recording the highest net spend in the Premier League. Several major arrivals, including Savio, Omar Marmoush and Mykhaylo Mudryk, only joined towards the end of the transfer window.

Wyness therefore feels De Zerbi deserves time to bring the new-look squad together and get the best from his players.

He said: “I don’t think we’re going to be talking about De Zerbi having a problem.

“I think this investment is going to protect him enough to give him enough time to get this squad working. So, he might be okay.”

Crucial Fixtures Ahead for De Zerbi

Tottenham’s next four matches before the international break could prove extremely important.

Spurs travel to Nottingham Forest this weekend before welcoming Everton on September 12. They then face Liverpool at Anfield in the Carabao Cup on September 15, followed by a home clash against Aston Villa on September 19.

De Zerbi will be expected to collect at least six points from those fixtures, while progressing in the cup would provide an added boost.

Failure to improve before the international break could increase pressure on the manager, with Tottenham supporters potentially becoming increasingly frustrated.
