Mohamed Salah Attracts Interest from European Giants as Transfer Speculation Grows
Ibrahim Hassan, director of the Egypt national team, has revealed that he has been informed of strong interest in Mohamed Salah from two major European clubs — Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich — both of whom are competing in this season’s UEFA Champions League.
Hassan also expressed his personal hope that Salah will continue his career in Europe, where he has spent the majority of his professional journey. Speaking to ON Sport, he emphasized that staying on the continent would be the best option for the Liverpool forward.
He noted that interest has not only come from PSG and Bayern Munich, but also from clubs in Italy. However, he dismissed the idea of a move to Major League Soccer (MLS), suggesting that such a transfer could reduce Salah’s visibility on the global stage. According to Hassan, if European offers fail to materialize, then a switch to the Saudi Pro League could be a strong alternative, particularly given the presence of global stars like Cristiano Ronaldo.
Meanwhile, Salah’s long-time agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, addressed the growing speculation surrounding the forward’s future. In a message posted on social media, he clarified that no decision has yet been made regarding where Salah will play next season, stressing that the situation remains uncertain.
Despite that statement, MLS club New York City FC have publicly expressed interest in signing the Egyptian star. Club CEO Brad Sims openly shared his admiration for Salah, stating that he would welcome the opportunity to bring the forward to New York and see him follow in the footsteps of former high-profile players such as Andrea Pirlo, Frank Lampard, and David Villa.
Sims also confirmed that no formal discussions have taken place, adding that the club prioritizes players who genuinely want to join and contribute positively to the team culture.
On the injury front, Salah recently suffered a muscle problem during Liverpool’s Champions League Round of 16 victory over Galatasaray. The setback ruled him out of the 2–1 loss to Brighton as well as Egypt’s recent international fixtures. However, reports indicate that Liverpool remain optimistic he will recover in time to feature in the upcoming FA Cup quarter-final clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
