Liverpool & Manchester United Held Talks Over Wolves Wonderkid Mateus Mane

Liverpool and Manchester United reportedly held discussions over a potential move for Wolves youngster Mateus Mane before the summer transfer window closed.

According to TEAMtalk, both Premier League giants are admirers of the highly rated 18-year-old attacker and made efforts to explore a possible deal. Liverpool reportedly made contact during the final days of the window, but Wolves were not willing to let the teenager leave.

Liverpool were understood to be open to signing Mane and immediately sending him back to Wolves on loan for the rest of the season. However, the player himself was not pushing for a transfer, meaning the proposed move failed to progress.

The Reds eventually strengthened their attacking options by signing Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz, although they had also been linked with other wide players, including Ismaila Sarr and Yankuba Minteh.

Mane is regarded as one of the promising young talents in English football and is believed to have the potential to develop into a top-level player. Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are also reportedly monitoring his situation.

Manchester United could likewise benefit from greater depth on the wings, having relied heavily on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

With Mane continuing to attract attention from several Premier League clubs, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool or Manchester United will return with a fresh approach in the coming months.
