Tottenham Hotspur receive a major late boost ahead of their clash with Sunderland AFC.

Tottenham Hotspur have dropped into the relegation zone for the first time this season after West Ham United cruised to a 4–0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday.

New head coach Roberto De Zerbi now faces a tough task to steer the North London club to safety. While survival remains the immediate focus, owners ENIC Group and the recruitment team are already planning ahead for the summer transfer window.

One key target is Andy Robertson of Liverpool FC. According to David Ornstein, Spurs are currently leading the race to sign the Scotland captain, who is expected to leave Anfield after nine successful years. Despite interest from Juventus FC, Atletico Madrid, and SSC Napoli, Tottenham are in pole position.

Adding to the story, Fabrizio Romano reports that Spurs have already reached a verbal agreement with Robertson, although the deal depends on the club staying in the Premier League.

Tottenham had tried to sign the 32-year-old in January, with terms reportedly agreed between the clubs before Robertson chose to remain at Liverpool, who were also reluctant to sell without securing a replacement.

Since joining from Hull City in 2017, Robertson has won nine major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League and two Premier League titles. His experience, leadership, and winning mentality could prove invaluable for Spurs despite his age.

If Tottenham secure survival, Robertson could become De Zerbi’s first signing of the summer, underlining both the club’s ambition and the player’s confidence in the project.

For now, attention returns to the pitch, with De Zerbi and his squad preparing for a crucial run-in, starting with Sunday’s trip to Sunderland AFC as they fight to remain in the top flight.
