‘Elite’ Forward Makes Call on January Move to Tottenham Following Transfer Discussions

‘World-Class’ Forward Makes Decision on Potential January Switch to Tottenham After Talks

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly opened discussions over a possible January transfer for England striker Ivan Toney, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

The North London club are keen to strengthen Thomas Frank’s attacking options midway through the season and could look to reunite the Danish coach with his former Brentford forward. Toney, currently in his second campaign with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, is said to be willing to return to England in a bid to revive his international prospects ahead of the 2026 World Cup, though his chances remain uncertain.

It is understood that England manager Thomas Tuchel was unimpressed by the striker during his call-up in June, with Toney’s representatives believing that a January move back to the Premier League may not be enough to significantly change his standing.

Spurs Considering Ivan Toney Reunion

Bailey claims Frank would welcome the opportunity to work with Toney again, as Tottenham look to add more firepower to their squad in the January window. Despite signing Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus and Randal Kolo Muani in the summer, the trio have managed only three Premier League goals between them so far.

With Dominic Solanke sidelined by a long-term ankle problem and Richarlison leading the scoring charts with six goals in 15 appearances, Spurs’ need for a proven central striker has become clear. Toney would fit that profile, especially given his impressive form in Saudi Arabia.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a prolific campaign last season, scoring 30 goals and registering six assists in 44 matches, and has already added 12 goals in 18 appearances this term.

Yan Diomande Also on Tottenham’s Radar

Tottenham are also monitoring other attacking options ahead of January, including RB Leipzig’s highly rated teenager Yan Diomande. According to Fabrizio Romano, several clubs are tracking the 19-year-old after his impressive breakthrough season in Germany.

Diomande, who arrived at Leipzig from Leganés in July, has already contributed seven goals and four assists in 15 games across competitions.
