Liverpool have removed the memorial locker dedicated to Diogo Jota from the first-team dressing room at Anfield.
The locker, which had remained empty as a tribute following the tragic deaths of Jota and his brother André in a car accident in July 2025, has now been cleared. It was previously positioned between the spaces assigned to Mamardashvili (No. 25) and Ekitike (No. 22).
According to reports, the decision was made with sensitivity and at the request of the players, who found the constant reminder emotionally challenging during matchday preparations.
While the dressing-room tribute has been removed, Liverpool continue to honour Jota’s legacy. His No. 20 shirt remains permanently retired, and a permanent memorial sculpture still stands outside Anfield in recognition of his contribution to the club.
