Spurs Agree Personal Terms With Priority Target as Decisive Offer Prepares to Drop

Tottenham Hotspur are readying a third and potentially decisive offer for Brighton centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke, with reports confirming that personal terms between the player and the club have already been agreed.

Spurs have been active in the defensive market this summer, securing Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers to shore up their backline. However, Roberto De Zerbi has made it clear that Van Hecke remains his primary target, having previously worked with the Dutchman during his time at Brighton.

The 26-year-old, who partnered Virgil van Dijk in the Netherlands’ World Cup opener, has emerged as De Zerbi’s top priority as he looks to build a solid defensive foundation in north London.

Third Bid on the Way

Tottenham have already seen two offers — worth £40million and £50million respectively — turned down by Brighton. But trusted transfer journalist Matteo Moretto has revealed that a contract agreement is now in place on the player’s side, with only a club-to-club deal left to finalise. Moretto confirmed that Spurs and Van Hecke have reached a personal terms agreement, pending the two clubs closing negotiations.

Both Ben Jacobs and TEAMtalk have confirmed a third bid is imminent, with Football Insider reporting it will come in at around £55million. With Van Hecke entering the final year of his Brighton contract, Tottenham are confident of getting the deal over the line.

Tonali and Savinho Also in the Picture

In addition to Van Hecke, Spurs are pushing hard for Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali, with De Zerbi’s shared Brescia roots with the Italian midfielder seen as a potential persuading factor. Tonali is reportedly open to a move to Spurs, though Newcastle’s £100million asking price with no flexibility could prove a major stumbling block.

Tottenham are also targeting Manchester City winger Savinho for around £60million. Should that move collapse, Ben Jacobs has indicated Spurs could turn their attention to Crysencio Summerville, with an approach to West Ham already made amid Manchester United’s competing interest.
