Fabrizio Romano Drops Big Tottenham Transfer News as Savinho Becomes De Zerbi’s Number One Target

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has shed new light on Tottenham Hotspur’s attacking plans, confirming that Manchester City’s Savinho has emerged as the top target as Roberto De Zerbi pushes ahead with his squad overhaul.

Spurs have already put together one of the busiest transfer windows in the Premier League, adding six senior players to revamp a side that endured a difficult campaign. Martin Dubravka, Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have brought experience and squad depth, while a reported £237 million has gone toward high-profile additions Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali.

Having significantly bolstered the midfield and backline, the club’s focus has now turned to adding firepower up front.

Improving their wide options remains a priority for Tottenham, and several big-name attackers have been linked with the club, including AC Milan’s Rafael Leão, City’s Savinho and Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo. Spurs are also growing more confident about landing Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi, whose versatility as both a striker and left winger could lessen the need to bring in multiple new forwards.

Despite plenty of chatter linking Tottenham with Leão, Romano has downplayed the idea that a deal is actively being pursued. He says there’s no serious movement between Spurs, the player or AC Milan at this point, suggesting a transfer for the former Serie A MVP isn’t likely for now.

Savinho, on the other hand, is described by Romano as Tottenham’s clear number-one target. The Brazilian has been on the club’s radar for over a year, having been the subject of an earlier approach, and that interest has only grown stronger this summer. De Zerbi reportedly sees the 22-year-old as the perfect fit to bring speed, flair and unpredictability to his attack.

Romano also noted that Gakpo remains a player Spurs like, but with Liverpool reluctant to engage in talks, a move for the Dutchman looks far less straightforward than one for Savinho.

For now, Savinho stands out as Tottenham’s most realistic option. Manchester City are said to be willing to let him leave this summer, and the player himself is reportedly open to a move to North London if the clubs can strike a deal. Earlier reports have suggested a fee of around £60 million could get it done.

The next few weeks look set to be crucial for Tottenham. With De Zerbi keen to bring in another dynamic attacking option before the season starts, Savinho has emerged as the frontrunner, while Leão talk has gone quiet and Gakpo hinges on a change of heart from Liverpool. Should Spurs get the deal over the line, Savinho could become the latest headline addition in what’s already shaping up to be one of the club’s boldest transfer windows in years.
