Pedro Porro continues to be linked with a move to Barcelona, even as his position at Tottenham looks more secure than ever following a new long-term contract signed earlier this summer.
Reports out of Spain suggest Hansi Flick is keen on reuniting Porro with Lamine Yamal at club level after the pair struck up an impressive partnership for Spain at the 2026 World Cup. Porro was among the standout performers of the tournament, scoring the decisive goal against France in the semi-final on Spain’s run to the final, and his displays are said to have convinced Flick to prioritise him as a long-term right-back option.
Barcelona’s interest is closely tied to the uncertain future of Jules Kounde, who has been strongly linked with a move away from the Camp Nou. Should Kounde depart, Porro has been floated as a possible replacement, giving Flick a ready-made upgrade with proven Premier League and international pedigree. Manchester City were also credited with interest earlier in the year, though Barcelona appear to be the club driving the conversation most recently.
Any deal remains complicated, however, given that Porro committed his long-term future to Tottenham back in June by signing a new contract running until 2031, with reports suggesting an option could extend that even further to 2032. The move effectively ended speculation over his immediate future and handed the club significant leverage in resisting any approach from Spain.
Tottenham’s valuation of the defender has climbed sharply as a result. Early interest from Barcelona reportedly centred around a fee in the region of €30 million, but Spurs have since been valuing their right-back at closer to €70 million, a figure reflecting both his new deal and his standout form at the World Cup. Roberto De Zerbi is understood to view Porro as a central figure in his squad going forward, further reducing any incentive for the club to sanction a sale.
Porro himself has done little to close the door entirely, insisting he is happy in north London while stopping short of ruling out interest from Barcelona altogether. That measured response has kept the rumours alive in the Spanish press, even though no formal approach, agreed fee, or direct contact between the two clubs has been reported at this stage.
For now, the general consensus is that Barcelona’s interest represents genuine admiration rather than an active pursuit. Porro has established himself as one of Tottenham’s most productive players since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in 2023, contributing 13 goals and 26 assists in 152 appearances, and with his new contract in place, any move to Catalonia looks unlikely to materialise unless Tottenham’s stance shifts significantly.
