Brennan Johnson could have several options when the January transfer window opens, with an exit from Tottenham looking increasingly likely.
Former Everton, Aston Villa and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness has told Football Insider that Crystal Palace are seriously interested in the 24-year-old, while Brentford and Ipswich Town have also entered the race.
Spurs are open to letting Johnson leave either on loan or in a permanent deal this winter, following a season in which he has started just six Premier League matches.
Wyness believes Palace are a genuine destination, though Oliver Glasner’s future could influence Johnson’s decision. Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, he suggested Ipswich may be the strongest contenders due to their recent form and stability under Kieran McKenna.
He described Johnson as a talented but inconsistent player at Spurs who may benefit from a supportive environment, adding that Palace and Ipswich appear to be leading the chase, with Brentford also monitoring the situation. A move is expected to happen quickly once the window opens.
Tottenham eye goalkeeper change
Meanwhile, Tottenham are considering Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen as a potential replacement for Guglielmo Vicario. The current No.1 has come under scrutiny after recent mistakes against Nottingham Forest and Fulham.
Although Thomas Frank has publicly backed Vicario, the Spurs boss is keen to strengthen the goalkeeping department as part of his wider squad rebuild.
