Dele Alli was once regarded as one of England’s brightest football talents. Breaking through as a teenager at Tottenham Hotspur, he won the PFA Young Player of the Year award in consecutive seasons, 2015/16 and 2016/17.
After leaving Goodison Park in 2024, Alli joined Como in Italy in 2025, but his stint was short-lived—he was sent off on his debut and released in September without a contract renewal.
As of 2026, Alli is a free agent but has been keeping up his fitness by training with his former club, Tottenham. Reports from The Athletic state that the 29-year-old has been allowed to use an academy pitch at Hotspur Way in Hertfordshire, even working with a personal coach for several weeks.
During his six-and-a-half seasons in north London, Alli scored 67 goals and provided 59 assists in 269 games, also earning 37 caps for England and scoring at both Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup. He even attended the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the 4-1 derby defeat to Arsenal in February, entering the pitch at half-time to address the crowd.
Alli may hope to follow a path similar to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who trained with Arsenal’s U21s before moving to Celtic. Recently, former club MK Dons and four Spanish La Liga sides, including Elche, have been linked with potential moves for him.
Where he goes next remains uncertain. A return to Tottenham seems unlikely, as the club faces relegation risks and cannot afford uncertainties on the pitch.
