Dele Alli could be handed a storybook return to familiar surroundings following the termination of his contract with Como.
The former Tottenham and Everton midfielder has been without a club since September but is still determined to revive a career that once showed immense promise. Dele joined Como on an 18-month deal in January 2025, yet his spell in Italy was brief, featuring just one appearance under Cesc Fàbregas, which ended in a straight red card after a challenge on Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Since becoming a free agent, the England international has turned down several approaches, although a new option may prove more tempting. SportsBoom report that MK Dons, the club where Dele made his professional breakthrough at just 16, are keen on a reunion. During his first stint in Milton Keynes, he made 88 appearances, scored 24 goals, and was part of the famous 4-0 victory over Manchester United.
MK Dons believe Dele could play a key role in their promotion push, with Paul Warne’s side currently sitting just one point off the automatic promotion spots in League Two. However, the midfielder is said to still harbour ambitions of competing at a higher level, meaning a return to his boyhood club is far from his only choice.
Now 29, Dele has played club football in England, Turkey and Italy, and Spain could be his next destination. According to Fichajes, he is weighing up his options carefully, with Real Oviedo, Sevilla, Elche and Getafe all showing interest in signing him on a free transfer.
Elche are reportedly leading the race, offering a two-year deal worth €4 million, convinced that Dele still possesses untapped potential. Getafe are said to be proposing an 18-month contract, while Sevilla and Real Oviedo would only commit until the end of the current season, requiring Dele to prove his fitness quickly.
