Bruno Saltor has been appointed assistant coach at Tottenham Hotspur, joining interim boss Igor Tudor as the club fights to steer clear of relegation.
The Spaniard is one of three additions to Tudor’s backroom staff. He brings Premier League experience, having briefly taken charge of Chelsea F.C. as interim manager in 2023 after Graham Potter was sacked. During his short spell, he remained unbeaten, including a goalless draw against Liverpool F.C. at Stamford Bridge, where two Chelsea goals were disallowed. Shortly after, Frank Lampard was appointed caretaker and led Chelsea to a 12th-place finish and a Champions League quarter-final defeat to Real Madrid C.F..
Saltor previously enjoyed a successful playing career at Brighton & Hove Albion F.C., making 235 appearances and captaining the side to Premier League promotion in 2017. After retiring, he joined Potter’s coaching team and played a key role in Brighton’s rise into the top half. He later reunited with Potter at West Ham United F.C., though their partnership ended after eight months with the club battling relegation.
Following the departure of Thomas Frank, Tottenham appointed Tudor — formerly of Juventus F.C. — until the end of the season. The club said his task is to lift performances, secure results, and move Spurs up the table through greater structure and intensity.
Tudor called the opportunity an honour, emphasising hard work over league position. After reshaping his coaching staff, he voiced confidence ahead of the North London Derby that consistent focus and preparation — not fear — will ensure Tottenham’s Premier League survival.
