Liverpool may turn their focus to a possible swap deal after appearing set to miss out on Antoine Semenyo.
The Bournemouth forward, 25, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Vitality Stadium, with reports previously suggesting the Ghana international has a £65 million release clause. Liverpool, along with Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, have all been credited with interest.
However, recent reports indicate Semenyo favours a switch to Manchester City, with a move expected early in the winter transfer window. With Liverpool now likely to lose out, attention has reportedly shifted to a potential swap involving Federico Chiesa.
Chiesa’s future at Anfield has been uncertain in recent months after struggling to convince new boss Arne Slot. The Italian made his first Premier League start of the season against Wolves last weekend but was substituted after 61 minutes.
As January approaches, Chiesa has been linked with a return to Serie A.
According to Gazzetta, Juventus are interested and could propose a loan move back to Turin. Despite limited minutes, Chiesa has contributed two goals against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace as well as three assists this season.
Meanwhile, TuttoSport, via Sport Witness, claims Liverpool are targeting Juventus youngster Kenan Yildiz, who is also on Arsenal’s radar. Juventus are reportedly preparing an improved contract offer in an attempt to ward off Premier League interest, but their interest in Chiesa could give Liverpool leverage in negotiations for Yildiz.
- The 20-year-old has impressed this season, registering six goals and six assists in 22 appearances across all competitions. Liverpool are said to view Yildiz as a potential long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, who is currently away on AFCON duty with Egypt.
Liverpool return to Premier League action on Thursday afternoon when they host Leeds United at Anfield.
