Sources close to the situation have hinted at where Luis Enrique could be managing next season amid ongoing links with Manchester United.
The highly respected Spanish coach, who won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015 and PSG in 2025, has long been associated with a possible move to the Premier League.
Enrique has been mentioned as a potential replacement for Michael Carrick, who is currently under contract with United until the end of the 2025/26 season, even though his tenure has coincided with improved results for the club.
Replicating last season’s historic treble — Ligue 1, Coupe de France and the Champions League — was always going to be challenging for PSG. While they remain a strong side, their form has dipped slightly this campaign, with Lens now just a point behind them in the league, raising questions about whether Enrique might consider a fresh challenge elsewhere.
However, according to reports from the i Paper, sources in Paris insist the Spaniard is expected to sign a new contract with PSG, extending his stay beyond his current deal, which runs until 2027. The club’s leadership is said to be fully committed to his long-term vision.
The report also notes that Enrique remains among the top managerial candidates for Manchester United, although Carrick is still viewed as the leading option for now.
United executives Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox reportedly admire Enrique, while INEOS believe Carrick may be a better strategic fit.
Meanwhile, Enrique is said to be monitoring developments at Manchester City, particularly the future of Pep Guardiola, whose contract expires in 2027. The two share a strong bond from their time together at Barcelona.
Fluency in English could work in Enrique’s favour, as he has previously expressed interest in coaching in England. In a 2023 interview, he admitted he closely follows the Premier League and would welcome the chance to manage there — but only at a club capable of achieving major success.
