After the final whistle, Sky Sports cameras captured Harrison Reed and Tom Cairney sharing a moment of disbelief. Like many watching, Cairney could barely process what he had just witnessed, sprinting over to Reed and delivering an expletive-laden reaction after his teammate produced a sensational goal-of-the-season contender against Liverpool.
In stoppage time of Sunday’s Premier League match at Craven Cottage, Reed wiped out Cody Gakpo’s 94th-minute effort with a stunning long-range strike. The 30-year-old, scoring for the first time since April 2023, unleashed a 30-yard shot that flew past Alisson to make it 2-2 and extend Fulham’s unbeaten run to five games. Cairney could be clearly heard exclaiming, “What the f— was that?” before walking away in disbelief.
Social media quickly lit up, with fans amused by Sky’s microphones picking up Cairney’s reaction. Many echoed his words, while others hailed the strike as “surely one of the goals of the season.”
Fulham had gone ahead early through former Liverpool winger Harry Wilson but later trailed after goals from Florian Wirtz and Gakpo. Reed’s dramatic late equaliser, however, ensured Marco Silva’s side earned a deserved point.
Reflecting on the moment afterwards, Reed told Sky Sports: “I came on and two minutes later they scored, so I tried to keep the lads going. I felt we’d get another chance. It wasn’t easy, but it fell to me nicely.”
He added: “Kevin played me the ball and I just had to hit it. The feeling was unbelievable. I don’t even know what the celebration was—but it was a fair result.”
Silva also praised his team, saying: “When we were behind, it felt very unfair. We scored a fantastic first goal and found space between their full-back and centre-back. Harrison’s goal was a special moment and brought justice to the game.”
