Thomas Frank has delivered the latest injury update on his Tottenham Hotspur squad ahead of their Premier League showdown with Manchester United.
The January transfer window has now closed, with Spurs making minimal additions to their first-team options on deadline day. That decision came despite the well-documented injury crisis currently facing Frank’s side.
The Tottenham boss is without more than ten senior players, leaving him short in several key areas — including a lack of a natural right-back, Xavi Simons as the only recognised number ten, and a clear shortage of wide attacking options. As a result, Frank must rely on the limited reinforcements brought in this winter, namely Conor Gallagher and Souza.
Following the closure of the window, technical director Johan Lange explained the reasoning behind Tottenham’s transfer approach, offering supporters some insight into the club’s strategy.
Focus now shifts back to on-field matters, with Spurs returning to action at Old Trafford in their first fixture since deadline day.
Several first-team players remain unavailable, with long-term absentees such as Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus, Ben Davies, Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall still sidelined.
Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence remain doubts ahead of Saturday’s early kick-off, while Cristian Romero was forced off against Manchester City due to illness. The return date for Kevin Danso is still uncertain, though there is hope that Pedro Porro and Richarlison could be back in time for the north London derby.
Providing an update via Tottenham’s official channels, Frank said:
“Most players are doing fine. Micky van de Ven trained today and is available for selection on Saturday. Djed Spence is close and it’s a late decision whether he’ll be involved. Cristian Romero is also available.”
