Thomas Frank Issues Immediate Statement on His Future Following Newcastle Loss

Pressure continues to mount on Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank, who has spoken out about his future following his side’s latest defeat to Newcastle United.

The 52-year-old took charge of Spurs last summer after a highly regarded spell at Brentford, succeeding Ange Postecoglou. However, life in north London has proved challenging, with Tottenham now edging dangerously close to a relegation fight.

Spurs endured another disappointing night on Tuesday as Newcastle left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a 2-1 victory, courtesy of goals from Malick Thiaw and Jacob Ramsey. Archie Gray netted for the hosts, but that did little to calm the frustration, with fans booing the team at full-time.

The defeat leaves Tottenham down in 16th place in the Premier League, just five points clear of 18th-placed West Ham United, who played out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

After the match, Frank was questioned about his position amid growing scrutiny. The Dane confirmed he had held talks with the Spurs hierarchy on Monday and insisted he is not worried about losing his job.

“No,” Frank told TNT Sports when asked if he fears the sack. “I spoke to them yesterday, so no. We know we’re not where we should be, and we have to work extremely hard to change that.”

Frank also acknowledged the anger among supporters, admitting he understands why the blame often falls on the manager.

“I understand the frustration, and the easiest thing is to point at me. That’s fair and part of the job,” he said. “I’ll work day and night to turn this around, but it’s never just one person. We’ve been in a similar situation before, and we need to push through it together. I’m confident I’m part of the solution.”

The challenge does not get any easier for Frank, with Spurs set to return to Premier League action this weekend in a daunting North London derby against league leaders Arsenal on Sunday afternoons.
