Thomas Frank speaks out as Spurs’ injury woes worsen before crucial Frankfurt showdown

The Tottenham manager explained that while he hasn’t yet spoken directly to the players involved, the information passed on to him was reassuring.

“That’s my clear understanding of the situation. I haven’t spoken to them personally, but the initial feedback is that there’s nothing serious. They’ll be travelling later tonight, and I expect both to be available tomorrow.”

Despite the positive update, Spurs remain stretched by injuries across the squad. Pedro Porro is sidelined with a hamstring problem and is set to miss three to four weeks, ruling him out of the Frankfurt tie.

Expected return: 22/02.
At the back, Micky van de Ven will also miss the Champions League clash. Frank labelled the issue a “minor concern” and is hopeful the Dutch defender could return for the weekend’s league match.

Expected return: 01/02.
There is still uncertainty surrounding the Swedish international as he continues his recovery from a knee injury. Frank admitted there was no new update ahead of the Frankfurt game, although the club expects more clarity in the coming days.
Expected return: Unknown.

Ben Davies faces a more worrying situation. The experienced defender recently underwent a second ankle operation, casting serious doubt over his World Cup hopes. There is growing belief that he may have already played his last game for Spurs.
Expected return: End of season.

Midfield options have also taken a hit, with Lucas Bergvall sidelined after ankle surgery following his withdrawal against Borussia Dortmund. The teenager is expected to be out for around three months.

Expected return: 11/04.
There is some encouragement, however, with Pape Matar Sarr returning to the squad after his AFCON triumph. Although he is still regaining full fitness after illness, Frank confirmed he is back in contention.

Expected return: 28/01.
With qualification on the line and injuries mounting, Wednesday’s showdown with Eintracht Frankfurt could be a pivotal moment in Spurs’ Champions League journey.

Elsewhere, Raheem Sterling is expected to leave Chelsea before the January transfer window closes. The 31-year-old, once among the league’s most dangerous attackers, has struggled to recapture his best form at Stamford Bridge, and there are growing signs a move to Tottenham could be on the cards.
