Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande after reaching a potential agreement with Crystal Palace over the sale of Brennan Johnson, according to BBC journalist Sami Mokbel.
GIVEMESPORT reported on Tuesday that Palace and Spurs have reportedly agreed on a £35 million deal for Johnson. Everton and Bournemouth are also keeping tabs on the situation, while the Wales international has yet to decide whether he wants to join Selhurst Park.
With multiple Premier League clubs showing interest and a deal with Palace in place, Johnson looks increasingly likely to leave north London, prompting Tottenham to start considering replacements ahead of the January transfer window.
Mokbel notes that Spurs have begun exploring alternatives, with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande among the options.
The 19-year-old winger has enjoyed a breakout season in the Bundesliga, emerging as one of Europe’s most promising young wide players. This term, he has contributed a combined eight goals and assists from just 10 Bundesliga starts, highlighting his rapid progress. Diomande joined Leipzig in January after a stint at Leganes, where he made six La Liga starts last season.
Meanwhile, Johnson has struggled for regular game time, starting only six Premier League matches this season. With Tottenham’s significant squad investment, he has mostly been on the fringes of the first team. A potential £35 million move would allow Spurs to recoup a substantial part of their investment and free up funds to target younger talents with high potential.
The arrivals of Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus in the summer further limited Johnson’s opportunities, relegating him to a rotation role. While he still offers value as a squad player, the sizable offer from Palace may be too good for Tottenham to ignore.
