Thomas Frank delivers confident assessment after Dortmund victory
Tottenham have endured a frustrating run of narrow defeats in recent weeks. Consecutive 2–1 losses to West Ham and Aston Villa, followed by a dramatic 3–2 defeat away at Bournemouth, came after Spurs were held to back-to-back draws against Sunderland and Brentford.
Despite the disappointing results, Thomas Frank believes the performances have been stronger than the scorelines suggest. The Spurs boss feels his side have been doing many things well, but have lacked the fine margins at crucial moments.
Speaking after the win over Borussia Dortmund, Frank reinforced that belief in his post-match press conference. He said the players’ commitment reflects positively on the coaching staff, adding that Tottenham have delivered solid performances in eight straight matches.
Frank pointed to Dominic Solanke’s goal against Dortmund as an example of luck finally falling their way, contrasting it with recent games against Sunderland, Bournemouth and West Ham, where Spurs could easily have claimed victories. He stressed the importance of staying consistent, maintaining belief and trusting that results will eventually improve.
Supporters remain unconvinced
While Frank continues to have the backing of Tottenham’s hierarchy, much of the pressure is now coming from the fanbase. Supporters, who invest significant time and money following the club, have grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of positive results and performances.
For many fans, a single win against a Dortmund side reduced to 10 men is far from enough to restore confidence in Frank’s project. His claim that Spurs have “done a lot of things right” over the last eight games has been met with scepticism, with numerous supporters viewing the comment as further evidence that he may not be the right manager to take the club forward.
