Tottenham star pushes for a move after hitting “breaking point” following ruthless decision by Frank

Tottenham Hotspur are dealing with a renewed issue surrounding Mathys Tel, after the young attacker again signalled his desire to leave the club following his omission from Thomas Frank’s Champions League squad.

Tel has become increasingly frustrated with life in North London. Although discussions earlier this month briefly persuaded him to stay, being left out of Spurs’ European list is believed to have reignited his discontent.

The 20-year-old completed a £30m permanent move from Bayern Munich in June, shortly after Frank took charge, having initially joined on loan under Ange Postecoglou.

Despite the high expectations, Tel has started just six Premier League games this season and is growing unhappy with his limited involvement. People close to the player feel he no longer believes he will receive the playing time he anticipated, leading him to renew his push for a move before the transfer window shuts.

His agents are now working with intermediaries to assess both loan and permanent options, with a clear focus on securing a club where he can play regularly. Teams in Germany, Spain, Italy and France are keeping a close eye on developments and are prepared to act should Tottenham soften their position.

While Tel is keen to move on, Spurs remain adamant that he is not available, viewing him as an important part of their long-term plans. Frank reportedly rates the forward highly, but heavy competition in attacking areas has limited his chances, making it difficult to offer the immediate role Tel wants.

As the player intensifies his efforts to leave and his representatives test the market, pressure is growing on Tottenham to clarify their stance. Reports from Fabrizio Romano, Florian Plettenberg and Ben Jacobs have all highlighted Tel’s increasing frustration.

Unless the situation changes soon, Tel’s future looks increasingly likely to be away from North London. A January exit could later be seen as a mistake by Spurs, given his reputation as a top talent. Bayern were reluctant to sell him, and despite restricted minutes, he has still managed three Premier League goals this season.
Tottenham fought off competition from Manchester United to sign him, but his next step could now take him abroad, with Paris among the destinations being considered.
