Tottenham’s hopes of staying in the Premier League suffered another major setback after a 3–1 home defeat to Crystal Palace, with one player in particular facing heavy criticism from supporters.
Spurs initially caught a break when Ismaila Sarr had a goal ruled out for offside. Shortly after, Dominic Solanke gave Tottenham Hotspur the lead. However, the game quickly turned when Micky van de Ven was shown a straight red card for pulling back Sarr inside the penalty area, allowing the Palace winger to equalize from the spot.
Things worsened before halftime. Adam Wharton set up Jørgen Strand Larsen after a Spurs mistake, and the striker finished from close range. Soon after, Sarr grabbed his second goal, poking the ball past Guglielmo Vicario following another precise pass from Wharton.
Manager Igor Tudor made early changes after the break as Spurs tried to fight back, but despite creating chances they couldn’t recover and remain just one point above the relegation zone.
While Van de Ven’s red card proved costly, goalkeeper Vicario also came under scrutiny for a series of costly errors. For Palace’s second goal, he was slow to close his legs, allowing Strand Larsen to score easily. His positioning and hesitation for the third goal further exposed his struggles.
Vicario’s form has dipped sharply in recent weeks. Against Palace he made only one save and conceded far more expected goals than anticipated, raising concerns about his confidence and consistency.
Frustrated fans did not hold back online, with many blaming the goalkeeper for the defeat and calling for him to be dropped as Tottenham battle to avoid relegation. Some supporters even questioned whether he should continue as the club’s first-choice keeper if their struggles continue.
