Tottenham supporters have all voiced a similar reaction after footage of a planned protest surfaced following the draw with Manchester City.

Tottenham mounted a spirited comeback to claim a 2–2 draw against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Thomas Frank’s side went into the break two goals down after strikes from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo, but a brace from Dominic Solanke in the second half ensured Spurs salvaged a point.

Protest plans fall flat amid Spurs fightback

Earlier this season, Tottenham saw the departure of Daniel Levy after nearly 25 years in charge, bringing an end to a long and often controversial reign at the club. Despite his exit, frustration among supporters has continued to be aimed at majority owners ENIC, whom many fans believe have failed to manage the club effectively in recent years.

Although Spurs ended a 17-year trophy drought by lifting the Europa League last season, a section of the fanbase remains unconvinced that the club has made enough progress under the Lewis family’s ownership.

Supporters had organised a protest, planning to leave the stadium in the 75th minute of Sunday’s match against Manchester City. However, Tottenham’s second-half resurgence effectively derailed those plans. Footage shared on X showed the concourse largely deserted at the time the walkout was meant to take place.

The fan who posted the video questioned why so much noise had been made online ahead of the protest if few were willing to carry it out. Others responded by arguing that the team needed backing during a crucial phase of the game, with one supporter even describing the timing of the protest as “stupid.”

Many fans agreed that the walkout might have gone ahead had the match unfolded differently, but given the circumstances, the idea was ultimately abandoned.

Deadline day dealings spark anger

Tottenham completed the loan signing of James Wilson from Scottish side Hearts on Monday, but it proved to be their only piece of business on deadline day.

The club hold an option to make the move permanent in the summer, with the 18-year-old striker initially linking up with the Under-21s rather than the senior squad.

That detail has only heightened supporter frustration, with Wilson not seen as an immediate first-team reinforcement. Spurs’ pursuit of Souza on 22 January was their only other senior addition of the window, underlining another quiet and underwhelming transfer period.

In recent years, Tottenham’s recruitment has drawn heavy criticism, with large sums spent on players who have failed to deliver consistently. Improving their transfer strategy remains one of the main changes supporters are desperate to see at the club.
