Tottenham Hotspur rescued a point at Burnley on Saturday as Cristian Romero powered home a 90th-minute header to secure a dramatic 2–2 draw.
The late equaliser, however, did little to ease the mounting pressure on Thomas Frank. Spurs had taken the lead through Micky van de Ven, but Axel Tuanzebe struck on the brink of half-time to restore parity. Despite a string of outstanding saves from Martin Dubravka, Burnley went ahead after the break when Lyle Foster found the net. Romero’s last-gasp intervention ensured the points were shared, though neither side left satisfied.
The result moves Burnley onto 15 points, with Spurs remaining on 28.
While Spurs showed spirit to fight back, familiar flaws were evident once again. Confidence looked shaky, attacking ideas were limited, and the visitors appeared dangerously vulnerable on the counter in the second half. Dubravka’s display papered over wider issues as Spurs lacked cohesion and purpose in possession.
Those concerns have become a regular feature under Frank. His subdued walk off at full-time — accompanied by chants from travelling fans calling for his removal — highlighted the growing unrest. The players seemed unconvinced by his methods, and Spurs were fortunate to escape with a draw against a Burnley side now without a win in 14 Premier League matches.
Burnley head to Sunderland on Monday, February 2, while Spurs return home to face Manchester City on Sunday, February 1.
