Manchester United have shut the door on any summer sale of Benjamin Sesko, insisting the Slovenian forward stays central to their long-term project regardless of the growing attention from top European clubs.
Reports suggest several major sides used intermediaries to test the waters over a possible deal, but United swiftly rejected the idea, making it clear the striker simply isn’t for sale.
Sporting director Jason Wilcox and the club’s hierarchy have been thrilled with how Sesko has developed under boss Michael Carrick. Having pushed hard to land him last summer, United have watched the 23-year-old come into his own, especially once things picked up following a rocky spell under previous manager Ruben Amorim.
The forward finished the campaign in fine form, scoring seven times across his last 13 outings and cementing his reputation as one of the league’s brightest young attacking talents. That run of form has strengthened the club’s conviction that he’s the man to lead their attack for years to come.
United are still hunting for another forward before the window shuts, but that search is about adding depth alongside Sesko, not replacing him — with lingering doubts over Joshua Zirkzee’s future also shaping the club’s thinking up front.
Within the club, Sesko is viewed as a foundational piece of Carrick’s rebuilding plans, seen as the manager’s go-to number nine going forward. His breakout year has drawn interest from heavyweights like Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur, all of whom made informal enquiries.
United’s answer to all of them was blunt: Sesko isn’t going anywhere this window, no matter who comes calling.
The player himself feels the same way. He’s said to be happy under Carrick’s guidance and has no desire to leave, viewing Old Trafford as the right place to keep developing while helping push United back toward silverware.
