Arsenal are reportedly preparing an audacious move to hijack Liverpool’s marquee summer signing.

Liverpool could reportedly face a major challenge in their pursuit of PSG winger Bradley Barcola, with Arsenal emerging as a potential rival for the highly rated attacker.

On Friday, it appeared that Liverpool had finally taken a huge step forward in their long-running attempt to sign Barcola after Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida reported that the transfer was effectively a ‘done deal’ and that a fee had been agreed between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Fabrizio Romano later provided a different update, stating that negotiations between the two clubs were still underway and that an agreement had not yet been reached. With the situation still unresolved, Liverpool could now have fresh competition for the 23-year-old.

Arsenal enter the race for Barcola

According to Graeme Bailey of TEAMtalk, Arsenal have contacted Barcola’s representatives and are now firmly involved in the race for the French winger. Liverpool’s interest in the PSG star remains genuine, but the Gunners’ approach could complicate the Reds’ plans.

PSG are reportedly yet to receive a formal offer for Barcola and value the France international at around £128 million. Arsenal are said to be willing to make a substantial investment to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes.

Liverpool have reportedly done the most work on the deal so far and are still considered to be in a strong position to land the winger. However, Arsenal’s recent involvement means the transfer is no longer looking as straightforward as Liverpool would have hoped.
