Romano drops major Barcola update and reveals what Liverpool must do next

Liverpool have received a major boost in their pursuit of Bradley Barcola, with the Paris Saint-Germain winger reportedly giving the Reds the green light on personal terms.

That removes one of the biggest hurdles standing in the way of a potential blockbuster summer transfer.

The focus has now shifted to negotiations with PSG, who are demanding a huge fee for the 23-year-old. Liverpool must convince the French champions to lower their valuation if they want to complete the deal.

Barcola has reportedly become Liverpool’s top attacking target as they look to strengthen their wide options following Mohamed Salah’s departure. His explosive pace, direct style and versatility across the forward line could make him an ideal fit for Andoni Iraola’s high-intensity football.

Romano provides major Barcola update

Fabrizio Romano reports that Barcola has given Liverpool his final approval regarding personal terms.

Liverpool and PSG are now involved in direct negotiations, meaning the player is seemingly on board with the proposed move. The main stumbling block is therefore the transfer fee.

PSG are reportedly valuing Barcola at around £145 million, leaving a substantial difference between the two clubs. Liverpool have held initial talks but have yet to meet the Ligue 1 side’s financial demands.

PSG are also under no immediate pressure to sell, with Barcola still having two years left on his contract. Despite adding Maghnes Akliouche to their attacking ranks, the French club would still prefer to keep the winger.

Liverpool face huge financial decision

Barcola’s willingness to join is a significant development because Liverpool can now focus their efforts on reaching an agreement with PSG.

There is little doubt about his appeal. At just 23, Barcola already has extensive experience at the highest level and has won the Champions League. His profile could also allow him to become one of the key attacking figures at Anfield.

However, a £145m price tag would represent a massive financial commitment.

Liverpool should continue pushing for the transfer, especially with Arsenal also reportedly interested, but the Reds may be better off avoiding PSG’s full asking price.

A deal involving a lower guaranteed fee with achievable performance-related bonuses could be a more sensible solution.

Barcola has seemingly made his position clear. The next move is now up to Liverpool and PSG, with the transfer ultimately depending on whether the Reds are willing to make a huge financial investment and whether the French champions are prepared to reduce their demands.
