Alessandro Bastoni has made his position on a potential move to Liverpool crystal clear.

Liverpool have been linked with Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni, but the Italian reportedly has no desire to make the move to Anfield.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Bastoni would only consider leaving Inter if Barcelona come calling.

The 27-year-old has established himself as one of the world’s top defenders in recent seasons, helping Inter win two Serie A titles and reach two Champions League finals.

Bastoni has made 295 appearances for the club across all competitions, contributing eight goals and 30 assists.

Missing out on the Italian would certainly be disappointing for Liverpool, although a new centre-back does not appear to be their biggest priority right now.

Virgil van Dijk is approaching 35, but still has another season to offer, while Joe Gomez remains part of the squad and Giovanni Leoni was also brought in last summer.

With Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson leaving, Liverpool’s biggest focus should be on finding replacements. Midfield reinforcements are also needed, with Ryan Gravenberch not ideally suited to the No. 6 role and uncertainty surrounding Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones.
