๐Ÿšจ Tottenham handed fresh injury concern as Dominic Solanke battles ankle issue

Tottenham have been dealt another fitness setback just days before the new Premier League season, with Dominic Solanke reportedly racing to be fit for the opening fixture.

The 28-year-old striker, praised by Roberto De Zerbi as one of the Premier Leagueโ€™s top forwards, is understood to have suffered ankle discomfort during the week. The issue is reportedly why he missed Spursโ€™ recent pre-season clash with Getafe.

The news will naturally concern Tottenham supporters, particularly after Solanke endured injury problems last season. With the new campaign approaching, De Zerbi has been cautious with the workload of several key players during pre-season, and Solanke has been among those carefully managed.

According to Tottenham insider Szyexcel, Solanke picked up the ankle knock this week and was subsequently left out of the Getafe game. While there is currently no indication that the problem is serious, its timing is certainly a concern given the strikerโ€™s previous fitness issues.

Solanke is expected to play a major role in De Zerbiโ€™s plans this season, with his strength, movement and finishing considered important to Spursโ€™ attacking ambitions.

He is also not the only player being monitored. Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie are reportedly having their workloads carefully managed, while James Maddison is said to be dealing with a recurrence of an old hip problem.

With several important players facing fitness concerns, Tottenham could have a race against time to get their key stars ready for the Premier League opener against Brentford on August 22.

For now, Spurs will be hoping Solankeโ€™s ankle problem proves to be nothing more than a minor scare. ๐Ÿคž
