International striker gives Tottenham the green light — but De Zerbi faces a major sacrifice.

International striker says YES to Tottenham — but De Zerbi must make a huge sacrifice

Tottenham could be edging closer to another major attacking signing, with World Cup striker Folarin Balogun reportedly giving the green light to a move to north London.

Spurs have already spent around £230million this summer, but Roberto De Zerbi is still looking to strengthen his attack. The Italian manager previously hinted that a major “bomba” signing was coming, with Tottenham linked with Cody Gakpo, Savinho and Balogun.

Talks over Balogun are believed to have begun recently, although Fabrizio Romano previously played down the situation, saying there was nothing “concrete or advanced” at that stage.

However, TEAMtalk now reports that Balogun is willing to join Tottenham. The USMNT striker is reportedly open to returning to the Premier League after previously coming through Arsenal’s ranks.

Monaco are believed to value the striker at around €50-60million (£42.7-51.3m), with Tottenham reportedly among the frontrunners after laying the groundwork for a potential deal.

Tottenham face a big decision

Before signing Balogun, Spurs may need to sell one of their current strikers — either Richarlison or Dominic Solanke.

The club are reportedly prepared to move one of them on if talks for Balogun progress. Solanke endured an injury-hit campaign last season, while Richarlison was Tottenham’s only player to score more than 10 goals.

Solanke could still have a future if he can remain fit and enjoy a consistent run of games, but Richarlison may be considered the more likely player to leave.

Selling the Brazilian would also provide Tottenham with valuable funds to help finance Balogun’s arrival after their huge summer spending spree.
